Friday Update

I found this on a twin website. Gary and I laughed for a good 2 minutes over this. Bear with me here. It has been a hard week. First comes the upbeat Friday update where I will try my hardest not to refer to Olivia as the Monster from Whinetown. Then if you can stomach it, you can continue reading to hear my moaning session.

This past weekend we went to our friend's the Smith's. They just moved back from Washington and we are super excited about them being here. Gary has known Scott since college and I am glad to know the whole family now. When I was put back in the hospital for my heart thing, I was just getting to my room when they arrived to visit and cheer me up. They were such great support during that time for us. Thanks guys, you're the best! Here are a few past pictures of our visits with them over the last few months.

At our house. The kids made a chalk picture and added water to it. Fun fun!!

At their house. Mackenzie loves the babies.
Olivia is of course crying. Abby is better. MacKenzie is fascinated by the eye lashes :-)

This is this past weekend at their house. I got some ones!

Olivia thinks Abby's fingers are yummy, but her shirt is even better :-)

Abby says, "Leggo my dress Livia!"

Livia's bald spot
She moves her head from side to side while she is trying to go to sleep in her bed. She also does this when she is in her swing, her bouncer, on the floor, in our lap. Hense, the bald spot.

And they are mobile! At least a little
Abby started out here in the first picture and ended up here in the second picture. Olivia did the same thing while is bed, swaddled, and in sleep positioners. They just moved with her. They kicked their feet up and then move a little to the side at a time.

Once again I got Abby doing this and not Olivia because
Olivia is a whining machine that must be held all the time.
Oh did I say that out loud?

Anyhoo, They are both pulling up when we hold their little hands.
They are both super strong, but still hate tummy time.
I love the 2nd picture because Abby is going after my
mom's fingers to knaw on them.

And I had to put this one in of poor Abby

And since it is now 2:00 and I started this first thing this morning...I am too tired to moan about the unfairness of it all right now. Maybe tomorrow. Let me just say this.

Olivia was up at 12:30, then again at 3:30 until...wait for it...6:00, then up again at 7:15. So needless to say, my patience runneth a little short today.

I am feeling very inadequate as a mommy today and have been in tears throughout the night and today. You know, I have done the single parent thing. I really don't want to do it again, but with two that's what you are. There is no "Would you please get up with her this time" because he is up with the other one. There is no taking turns. It is constant all day every day. I know it will pass and I will enjoy them soon, but dang if I am not enjoying them this week.

State Fair of Texas

We played hooky yesterday and went to the state fair. On Tuesday you can get in for $3 with a Dr P can so we took advantage of the great deal and the beautiful weather. The girls stayed home with Grana and Grandad. It was nice just having a little break from them for a day. Oh, the experience of the state fair. Don't get me wrong. I love it, but it a is truly a once a year thing, thank God.

We started the day off with the rides. Gary and I took turns with the rides and it was a good thing because these rides are not really cut out my adults.

Gary and Z on the big slide and the roller coaster

Me and Z on the Crazy Mouse
(and yes, it was super crazy, whipping us around)

I am getting too old for this crap.

Can't go to the fair without riding the big Ferris Wheel

Sites from the Ferris Wheel

Dallas Skyline

Cotton Bowl

The Midway

Then it was off to the Butterfly Garden where the Monarch migration is in full swing. They stop here on their way to Mexico and we were surrounded by them.

Then we saw Big Texas and the Car Show
where we saw the coolest robot interacting with the crowd, answering questions.

And it wouldn't be the fair without a little livestock

I didn't get pictures of Z playing a game and winning a bear. He actually popped a balloon!

Plus, the food...Oh heavenly fair food. The winner of the best taste award this year was Chicken Fried Bacon. Yes, here in Texas we deep fry everything to make it goood. And I do mean everything; Coke, Latte, Banana Splits, Jelly Bellys, Pineapple, Honey Buns, Dinner Rolls, Pop Rocks, and S'mores. Oh the S'mores...I have no words for the gooey goodness of fried s'mores. We always have to try something new. I tried the S'mores, Gary tried the Banana Split and Z tried the Jelly Bellys. Mine was by far the best choice. Of course then we have to get the old traditional treats like roasted corn on the cob, carmel apples, tornado tatters, fresh squeezed lemonade, and cotton candy. I also tried fried cheese on a stick this year. Think corny dog with cheese instead of the dog. Yuuummmm.

We had a great time! Then it was home to recover from our excitement.

Halloween Contest

Insane Mama is having a contest and I'm gonna win! Oh yes, I am Deb, yes I am. I have to make her (and her Grandma) smile, so here goes nothin.

I was never allowed to celebrate Halloween growing up. My parents didn't think it lined up with our beliefs. It wasn't that big of a deal when I went to a private school where no one dressed up and we usually had some sort of a Fall Festival. I remember dressing up like Sarah from the Bible one year. This is the costume. I wore it to a costume birthday party later that year.

Like I said, it wasn't that big a deal until I started going to public school in the 6th grade and I had to explain it to all my friends. They didn't understand and I didn't either really. They sat there with their huge bags of candy and I wondered why my Faith didn't allow me to have candy. Of course, as an adult I understand why my parents didn't allow us to celebrate this holiday. BUT, as an adult, I can now choose to celebrate if I wish and my children can to. I remember the first time I dressed up for Halloween. I kept expecting to be struck down, but I wasn't and my relationship with the Lord was unchanged. We allow Z to dress up and will allow the girls to also. Sooo...

My Z LOVES Halloween. He loves getting all dressed up and getting candy. Ummm...duh, he's a kid. On November 1st he is already planning his costume for next year.

He has been a tiger, an Indian, a Robot (I made that one), an Army man, Superman, and a Phantom Skeleton

This year he was going to be a Skull Biker. But at the last minute he changed to a Stealth Commando.

When we started planning for the girl's costumes, I said they could just wear little onesies that say "My First Halloween". But nope! Their Daddy wanted costumes for them. And I can't blame him. We considered this for them:

My vote was yes, but alas, no. Gary has to have his two little girls being girly girls, so they will be...
Little Flowers

Olivia was less than thrilled with the idea

But Abby can't wait

Friday Update

We took the girls outside on a blanket this week. It was a beautiful day! They loved it. Especially Olivia. She just lay there so content. Abigail doesn't really like the brightness even in the shade. She soon wanted to be in Daddy's arms where she was just fine. Of course, big brother has to get in there too.

Abigail has a little tummy bug, so has not been herself. Very clingy. And of course, Olivia is always clingy so it has made for a trying week. At one point I was bouncing Olivia with my foot in her bouncer and changing Abigail's diaper at the same time. Ahhh...the joys of twins.

My sister in law Hollie came to visit with my mom this week, so I got to take a nap. Oh glorious sleep! She told my mom that she knew it was hard, but she had no idea how busy I am every day. She woke up the next day and said to herself, "Thank God I am not Sara." It is nice to know that I am not the only one that thinks this is hard.

And without further a due (adew?) here are the best three month pictures. There were not many because of fussy bucket Olivia who wanted her binky the entire time. Then she was fine and Abigail started fussing! And people wonder why we don't waste our money on professional pictures yet.

Love this one with her hand under Olivia's chin

This is the clearest of them all

Best ones of them individually

The outakes

Olivia was NOT in the mood to cuddle with her sister
or be touched. She is touchy, touchy!!

She would not leave her dress down.
I finally just broke down and put on the bloomers.

Not a happy camper

I don't know what the crap was so interesting up there but she stared at it a good 10 mins while all of us were snapping, clapping, calling her name. Olivia is like, "What already?"

And not a bad one but there's that binky

This was what was in 75% of the pictures before I cropped them.
See that little face over there?? Ha ha!
He had to get in there.
