We have had a rough few weeks around here. Three days after they finished up their 20 day (20!) round of anti-biotics , Abby tested positive again for Strep.
::sigh::
Yeah, so after a shot of anti-biotics to jump-start her, she started another round of them. Around day 5, she started with the whole throwing up, diarrhea, fever, clingy-ness stuff then 2 days later she was covered with hives. Supposedly it was from the new anti-biotic. There were 2 different things going on; the allergic reaction plus the virus...at the same time.
It was awful, people. She whimpered, cried, and fussed for days upon days. She would get the hives on one part of her and they would fade, then a few hours later they would pop up somewhere else. And when they faded, they would leave what looked liked bruises. It actually looked a lot like the hives I used to get the last few years I taught. Is she stressed?? :-(
We had canceled our appointment with the specialist, of course...Of course we did!! But we were able to get in to see him this past Friday. Abby had been without anti-biotics for 6 days so we were pretty sure she would still test positive for Strep. We were also prepared to discuss, heck, even schedule her tonsils to be removed. The specialist said her throat looked fine (really??), but went ahead and tested them both for Strep, and sucked a bean shell out of Abby's nose. It was probably from her throwing up. Ummm...eww!!!
We should get those results in a few days. If it's positive, we schedule. If it's negative, we will try to make it until their second birthday. How can it not be positive? I really don't get it. I mean, why else would she be throwing fits, yelling, hitting, pouting if she didn't get her way. Why indeed? I am sure you can guess why. Two words - Todd.ler.
And in the midst of all of this, Zachary got the virus and I got the virus. I have not felt that bad in a very long time. I was out of commission for 2 whole days. And that is a long time in Mommy world. One of those days I slept 15 out of the 24 hours of the day. I was sorry to get sick, but not sorry to get to sleep. Gary stepped in and handled everything. My hero!
I am sorry about the lack of photos. Hopefully I can get to those this week. I also hope to catch up on some blog reading!

Sounds horrible...I hope you're all coming out of this soon. The hives and the Mommysickness really gets me...so out of control, right? And we all know how Mommies love to be out of control ;)
